Member Presentation in 2024 JAHSS & JASID Joint International Conference (Hosei University Tokyo)

The 14th Annual Conference of the Japan Association for Human Security Studies (JAHSS) and the 35th Annual Conference of the Japan Society for International Development (JASID) co-organized the conference together.

Our program director, Bryan Luk, MIPA, and advisor, Karl Wilkinson (Lecturer of Gifu Shotoku Gakuen University), had the opportunity to present at the 2024 JAHSS & JASID Joint International Conference at Hosei University Tokyo.

They presented Combating Digital Chaos: A Comparative Analysis of Government Responses to Information Disorder in Hong Kong and Japan at the JICA Ogata Sadako Research Institute for Peace and Development (JICA-ORI), Hosei University Ichigaya Campus.

Their conference paper is a pioneering exploratory study that conducts the first comparative analysis of how socio-economic and political contexts shape government responses to digital wildfires and information disorder through policy interventions. It delves into the underlying rationale and philosophical approaches that guide these responses, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of regional differences, similarities, and characteristics in policies designed to build resilience and mitigate the effects of digital wildfires.
