Dr Karl Wilkinson, PhD

Currently a Lecturer teaching international relations at Gifu Shotoku Gakuen University, Japan. Karl is a former Jamaica youth ambassador and youth parliamentarian. He has a passion for understanding and documenting the youth experience, especially among marginalized youth. Currently a full-time university lecturer in Japan, his research spans youth, social deviance, rural development, and language learning.

 

Originally a computer science major, he has transitioned to the social sciences and has earned MA and PhD degrees in International Development from Nagoya University for his work on Filipino youth social enterprises and on Jamaican youth deviance within low-achieving education.

Established in 2012 by Prof. Luk Yan Lung Michael, the Institute for Greater China Studies (IGCS) has been quietly contributing to the field of scholarly research for approximately 12 years. The IGCS is dedicated to studying a wide range of political, social, economic, cultural, and public policy issues, with a special emphasis on the Greater China region, an important and continually evolving area of study in the contemporary world.
