Prof Soo-hyun Lee, PhD

UNDP Expert, Assistant Professor of the University of Suwon Korea, and Founder of Information Symmetry Law and Policy Group (ISLPG). A Korean Scholar-Practitioner and attorney in Japan specializing in international economic law and financing for development and ESG regulation development in Asia Pacific. 


Prior, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Tokyo, a Research Associate at the Asian Institute for Policy Studies, and has more than ten years of professional experience in the United Nations. He is also an advisor to Information Symmetry (lawandpolicy.info), a law and policy analysis firm that specializes in sustainable finance.


His interdisciplinary expertise spans law, economics, and sustainability, with a focus on international investment law and its role in promoting sustainable development. His research, titled "Right to Regulate for Sustainable Development in International Investment Law: The Challenge of Incomplete Assessments, Promise of Sustainable Investment, and Need for Reserved Optimism", explores how international legal frameworks can support sustainable development goals.


Prof. Lee worked in both the private sector and for various UN organizations, bringing a wealth of practical experience to his teaching and research. His work continues to bridge the gap between academia and global development initiatives, making significant contributions to both fields.

Established in 2012 by Prof. Luk Yan Lung Michael, the Institute for Greater China Studies (IGCS) has been quietly contributing to the field of scholarly research for approximately 12 years. The IGCS is dedicated to studying a wide range of political, social, economic, cultural, and public policy issues, with a special emphasis on the Greater China region, an important and continually evolving area of study in the contemporary world.
